• Used and vintage guitars, electric and acoustic, for sale at excellent prices. Our select and rapidly growing inventory encompasses everything from a kid's first starter guitar to vintage collector's items.
• musician-tested, tuned and approved. Whether you are a beginning student or an experienced player, you will appreciate the TLC we put into every guitar we offer.
• Guitar amps, effects, and accessories. We stock guitar strings, straps, gig bags, and cables, and offer a constantly rotating selection of guitar amps, effects pedals, and specialty guitar items.
• Guitar repair on premises. With over 25 years' experience in guitar repair, Rockin Bob's Guitars can help you keep your guitar in good playing order. We also offer a convenient "guitar set-up" service for the busy player.
• Amp repair on premises. Rockin' Bob, is a master technician with over 25 years' experience in amp repair. We are one of the few qualified shops in the Boston area to offer guitar amp repair and we specialize in tube amps.
• New budget guitars for the beginning student. Used Sound is an authorized dealer for the Johnson Guitar Company, offering an excellent line of acoustic guitars starting at $115.
• We Buy Guitars! Rockin Bob's Guitars buys guitars in good condition, and we accept trade-ins if you're making a purchase. We offer fair, Blue Book prices. Unlike consignment shops, we'll write you a check right away.

A Little Bit of History

Used Sound started out in the 1970s as a local chain of stores, including locations in Davis Square, Harvard Square, and Newbury Street. While attending Sylvania Technical School (he graduated first in his class in 1978), Rockin' Bob Mahoney began working as a technician for the Newbury Street store. In 1981 Bob bought the Davis Square store, which until 2004 was the only Used Sound remaining in the Boston area.

In September 2001 Used Sound celebrated its 20th anniversary by renovating the store, adding to its guitar inventory. In 2004 Rockin Bob renamed the store Rockin Bob's Guitars. We still offer some audio gear under our Used Sound brand.

Our location (next to Johnny D's and across the street from the Somerville Theatre) makes us an excellent pit-stop for performers who need an extra set of guitar strings or want to check out a few cool guitars.
